미국 대사관에 J-1 VISA 신청시 The Summer Work/Travel (SWT) program은 오로지 학생들의 여름방학 기간동안에만 허가되는 것이지 년 중 다른 시기에는 적용이 되지 않는다는 사항을 알려 왔습니다.

여름 방학이 아닌 겨울방학이나 다른 시기에 SWT program이라 하면 안 된다는 것을 강조한 것입니다. 아래에 미 대사관에서 보내온 내용 전문을 소개 드리오니 참조하시고 착오 없으시길 바랍니다.

Subject: Summer Work/Travel J program



Dear Agnes,


How are you? As per Kim Jung Jin’s call, I’m writing to explain a restriction to the Summer/Work Travel category of J visas. Thank you for agreeing to spread the word amongst your KOSA colleagues. Information about the Summer Work/Travel category and its restrictions follow:


The Summer Work/Travel (SWT) program is available only to bona fide foreign post-secondary students currently enrolled in and actively pursuing a degree or a full-time course of study at an accredited

educational institution. These students must be enrolled and in attendance for the semester before and the

semester after the SWT program. SWT programs are only permitted during a student’s summer vacation and not during any other time of the year.
